Age Categories & Fees


Under 9 (U9)

Players born in 2015 - 2017 belong in this category. The U9 program is a mixed (boys and girls) category. The U9's meet for a one-hour skill development session, once a week in Beaumont* and are involved in a year-end tournament in March with other U9 teams from around Edmonton. BYBA follows the JR NBA Basketball program. Players will participate in practices and small games which focus on skill development while keeping it fun for the kids. The kids receive a jersey, a carry bag, and ball at the start of the season that they get to keep.

Regular Fee: $225

 

Under 11 (U11)

Players born in 2013 - 2014 belong in this category.  The U11's play once a week (usually Saturday) and practice once a week in a gym in Beaumont*. The rules have been adapted for these young athletes: the games are played four on four, on eight foot high baskets, and they play four eight-minute quarters.

Under 13 (U13)

Players born in 2011 - 2012 belong in this category. The U13's play once a week (usually on Saturday) and practice once a week in a gym in Beaumont*. The U13 games are played five on five, on 10 foot baskets, and they play four eight-minute quarters.

Under 15 (U15)

Players born in 2009 - 2010 belong in this category. The U15's play once a week (usually on Saturday) and practice once a week in a gym in Beaumont*. The U15 games are played five on five, on 10 foot baskets, and they play four nine-minute quarters.

Under 18 (U18)

Players born in 2006 - 2008 belong in this category. The U18's play once sometimes twice a week (usually on Saturday) and practice once a week in a gym in Beaumont*. There are two separate seasons for the U18's age category. The first season is the Fall League, which runs from September to November. The second season is the Winter League, which runs from January to March.

Please note that players that are participating in any high school basketball team (Jr or Sr. levels), are not eligible to play in the Winter League due to Alberta Schools Athletic Association rules that states “To be eligible for high school provincial competition in the ASAA sports of basketball, volleyball, football, cheerleading, team handball and rugby, a high school student is not permitted to play on a non-school team in the same sport during the same season.”

A/B Competitive Program

There is a $20 tryout fee for the U13 and U15 A/B competitive teams 

If a player makes the U13 or U15 A/B team and the team plays in the EYBA A/B divisions there will be a $100 fee for each player to cover the costs of extra practice time. This is a competitive division and players must commit to 2 practices and 1 game a week.
