7U/9U Tournament- General Rules of Play
• Every team will play in 3 games
• Teams will play 4-on-4 full-court
• Games will be approximately 30 minutes long “running time†(no half time) with 30 seconds to organize defensive checks for new subs
• Teams should have 8-10 players (12 maximum)
• Coaches will “referee†the game with very relaxed rules: travelling and double dribble is permitted (within reason)
• Fouls will be called at the discretion of the coaches(result in a change of possession)
• No “full-court†defense is allowed!
• After a change in ball possession, defenders must run back to their defensive end and can only pick up their defensive checks starting at the free-throw line extended)—this means you cannot attack the ball immediately after it crosses half court.
• No half court trapping or double-teaming the ball is permitted! No more than 1 defender guarding the ball handler at one time.
• No shot blocking or stealing the ball in possession of a ball handler is permitted. Steals are allowed if ball is in the air and being passed from one player to another.
